The Big Free Open Weekend
On Sunday 7th May of a small contingent from the club headed out to Loch Ore to take part in "The Big Free Open Day." The weekend was an opportunity for local residents in and around Fife to get a taster for the sports which use the facility and we were delighted to be able to provide some rowing sessions through the day.

With some glide singles being brought over from Scottish Rowing, the club hosted 3 sessions throughout the day which had 6-10 people per session taking to the water. Despite the wind picking up during the afternoon, it was a fun filled and different experience for all those who took part! The club has been widening our outreach work over the last few years and months and we enjoyed the opportunity to test out community rowing at Loch Ore. With the day being such a success, we are sure to investigate possibilities moving forward!

Thanks has to go to: Scottish Rowing, Loch Ore, Fife Council, Active Fife and our student volunteers and coaches for helping make the day such a success. With exams just around the corner, it was the perfect excuse to soak up the sun (while it lasted!)
