BUCS 2017: Bronze medals and BUCs Points!

February 28, 2017

This past weekend has been a huge success for the club. Not only did we see an impressive performance from our novice rowers, in both their 8+ and 4+ crews, a solid performance from the Senior Women's 8+ and a narrow miss from our Senior Men, ranking 5th in the Men's Champ 4+ category and putting some serious pressure on other contenders, last Sunday yielded a coveted result for the club, with the Senior Women coming in 3rd in their Women's Champ 4+ event, gaining the club its first 6 BUCs points ever!

Despite all our hard work and improvement over the past few years, BUCs points have long eluded us and this recent success is one we seek to build on at BUCs Regatta in May.

With strong performances from all crews in not the most favourable of conditions, these most recent results really show the club's improvement and our ability to pull above our weight, despite being one of the most under-represented crews at BUCs Head. All in all a great weekend for the club, and a massive thank you must go to our current and previous Social Secretaries, Henry and Chris, who ran the Dublin Marathon to raise money for the club, making this weekend away free for all our rowers!

The results from Sunday are listed below:

MC4+ - University of St Andrews  5th 15:56.75

WC8+ - University of St Andrews 7th 17:00.27

WInt8+ - University of St Andrews 29th 19:50.029

WC4+ - University of St Andrews 3rd 17:07.83

WInt4+ - University of St Andrews  'A'  22nd 19:29.922

WInt4+ - University of St Andrews  'B'  14th 18:55.814

Our focus now turns to Women's Head of the River down in London on Saturday 11th of March, where we are looking to improve upon the successes of last year in what will no doubt be one of the most memorable events of this semester.
